the bow had come apart completely - it was essentially a long strip of ribbon. so the first step was sewing it into a bow shape...
...and after that was done, i reattached it to the doll's dress.
all fixed!

as it turns out, the second stage of mending the stool is an elusive task. what i tried today didn't end up working, so i moved onto another task: reattaching a bow to the dress of a doll who plays a central role in my show.
the bow had come apart completely - it was essentially a long strip of ribbon. so the first step was sewing it into a bow shape...
...and after that was done, i reattached it to the doll's dress.
all fixed!
